Originally from Illinois, Elke has been an animal lover since before she could walk. Growing up her family included 4 dogs, 3 cats, a guinea pig, several hamsters, and a mouse.
Elke moved to California in 2001 and it was then that she first started in the animal field. Initially hired to be an office manager for a small animal practice, she quickly fell in love with the “hands on” aspect of her job. She started working part time at an emergency hospital, enrolled in school, obtained her Registered Veterinary Technician License and started working full time at a specialty animal hospital with a special interest in Internal Medicine and Emergency/Critical Care.
In 2009 she moved back to Illinois and worked at a VCA specialty practice in the dermatology department, the surgery department, the internal medicine department, and the emergency/critical care department. In 2011 Elke moved back to Illinois to help establish an Internal Medicine practice, working as a head technician and a doctors assistant, focusing more on staff training, procedures, protocol, and client communication.
In 2014 Elke decided to go back to school full time to learn stenography (transcription/captioning) and started working at Newport Mesa Animal Hospital in the medical records/transcription department.
She currently lives with her boyfriend Mike, her dogs Madigan and Sawyer, and her cat Oliver.
